Gary Olson is considered media technology thought leader, media industry technology expert and an active consultant practitioner in IP based broadcast design.  As a strategic advisor, technology designer and project executive in media technology he specializes in the transition from traditional media technology, workflows and business processes to the computer and network centric IP and File technologies and workflows. Gary has substantial experience working with project sponsors and stakeholders to help them understand the changes associated with digital media platforms and file-based workflows.  

Gary is on the CBR advisory board and the SVG content security workgroup.   These groups are working to establish best practice guidelines to prevent cyberattacks and disruptions broadcasting.  He was written a number of articles on cyber security in media.  

The second edition of his book “Planning and Designing the IP Broadcast Facility – A New Puzzle to Solve” was released in 2020 following the success of the first edition which is a considered by the industry as one of the most comprehensive technical guidelines for making sound decisions implementing IP technology.
